Alarm, lights flashing while locked on drive?

Alarm sounds and lights flashing while the car is locked on the drive. Needs to be unlocked to turn off. Attempted theft or just the wind or a tree branch?

Ours did this when the 12v battery was low. Volvo tech initially thought battery had died but then found a loose earth connection to the chassis.

My dashcam set the alarm off when it fell off .

How many times has this happened and over what period of time?


I had a dashcam installed a few months back, and the first night the alarm went off.
Weird, I thought...
Then again the next morning, then a day later...

I then saw, hanging from my rear view mirror a spider. Kindly scooped him up and put it outside. No more alarm being triggered.

My point being whilst we are quick to ID a fault such as me thinking the dashcam install had caused issues, or maybe the 12v battery being a problem, it could be a little old incy-wincy triggering it.

Or maybe not.

Twice the suction cup holder obviously doesn't like the sun and the car detects the movement inside the cabin.
