Infotainment display home screen since update

Since the recent software update my infotainment display defaults to the apps screen when previously it opened to the home screen upon starting.

I did a soft reset and now the system only opens on the home screen if I left it on that last time I used the car. If I left it on the radio app, maps, app screen etc then it will open on that screen the next time I start the car.

I much preferred the system to default to the home screen automatically upon starting the car rather than me laboriously having to press the button underneath the display. Can others confirm that the update fudged this on their cars too? I will try a hard reset if that is the case. Thanks.

Laboriously having to press a button.....

Yeah well. In typing your message telling us about it, you laboriously had to press many more buttons....

Thanks for your helpful reply. Pressing a button every time I start the car which I did not have to press prior to the 'update' is kinda laborious, yes.

I should be hanged, drawn and quartered (twice) for not taking your problem more seriously.

Does yours exhibit the same behaviour since the 'update'? That's all I'm asking. If it does and you're happy with a downgrade then great but I'm not. If it's just mine then hopefully it can be sorted out

I haven't had the update, so can't confirm one way or another. But have you looked in the settings to see if there's a new option to toggle on/off?

Also, as someone who has worked in software development for a number of years I can well well believe that that this could have been added as an enhancement, either in response to user feedback and/or input from the product manager responsible. I can tell you from experience that for every new feature or enhancement added to an application that some folks like it and some don't.
Thanks

Not having driven the car for around a week, I went out and started it this morning. It started up with the normal 4 bar Home Screen.
I then stopped and locked the car and restarted and each time it restarts with what ever was the last screen I had up, having tried google maps and Tidal.
How many days/hours before it switches from the last used screen to the 4 bar Home Screen I have no idea and I am satisfied with the way it currently functions.
Completely agree with GKSmith, updates/enhancements/changes are not always liked by all users, but assume the majority don't even notice or worry about such changes.

Quite possibly. I hope not.

Make sure the date on your “As per Volvo” information source matches the launch date of the latest software update to reflect any newly introduced features.
