just as a follow up
the main dealer services are

2 Major/ 1 minor / 3 Mot
Cambelt is an extra 700 quid. But the cost (1651) does include the app and MOT.

Local independent - 1200, or 1740 inc cambelt. But no app/MOT (say 240 all in).

Not a lot of difference - couple of hundred quid over 3 years. Is that worth it for a main dealer service stamp etc, and potential goodwill if things go wrong.

The work to be done in each yearly service was detailed in the contract. I paid £40 pcm. I cancelled it after the car was serviced this year as I’m trading it in so I’d had 3 of the five services. I got a £350 refund from them. The last one of those services would have included new belts. I stipulated 6k mileage per year. I thought that price was quite reasonable…
