Morning!
Possibly a well asked question, but I thought i'd ask again. Sorry.
Our '21 XC40 PHEV has come to the end of it's service plan as we've hit three year old mark.
The garage has quoted another service plan - for three years. They've suggested we do 18k miles a year - we don't; more like 10k. Don't know if that would make a difference.
So 72k Major, 90k Minor, 108k Major would be 1650 quid, including a 200 quid discount.
Is this good? Honestly, I don't know. Seems a lot, but then I guess it's the fact it's all upfront, and split over 3 years I'd accept it.
Could I get some advice from the more knowledgeable members? Thanks

That works out at £46/month for three years - doesn't seem bad for dealer service (don't forget that Volvo include roadside recovery and assistance for as long as you have the vehicle serviced by them).
I have used a similar service plan on prewvious cars (VW) and found it convenient.
I would question the mileage assumption, it might save you a few pounds.

thanks for the response.
Yes, I will go back and question the mileage. It's virtually double what we use.
Interesting to know you think it's not *too* bad. Just trying to find out what the local volvo indy would do for a similar set up. The indy is close to my wife's work (whereas the main dealer is some way away in the wrong direction). Things like that do help.

While paying upfront for another 3 years of service is usually advantageous, it may not be cheaper in your case compared to paying as you go. Volvo service plan covers two types of maintenance: time-based (yearly) and mileage-based. The yearly service typically includes an oil and filter change, while mileage-based services involve replacing the air filter, spark plugs, gearbox oil, and brake/hydraulics fluid.
If you drive only 10k miles per year vs. the expected 18k in the offer, you won’t reach the required mileage for the second major (108k) service included in the plan, which could result in overpaying since you might get only an oil and filter change for the last service when the car is 6 years old.

I took out a third party 5yr service plan with EMAC, arranged through the Volvo dealer, when the free 3yr servicing deal ran out. The work to be done in each yearly service was detailed in the contract. I paid £40 pcm. I cancelled it after the car was serviced this year as I’m trading it in so I’d had 3 of the five services. I got a £350 refund from them. The last one of those services would have included new belts. I stipulated 6k mileage per year. I thought that price was quite reasonable…

Now that's interesting; on reading it's a Garage service plan, not Volvo. And it's definitely Emac as well.
Does this make a lot of difference?; guess I should go back and see what's actually included....if belts etc are included, it might be worth it.
