Car new April 2023 - Less than 6 months Turtle sign comes in Dash - Engine System Reduced Performance- car slowed right down in fast traffic several times.

Took into Volvo Dealer - suggested it was very wet weather conditions that may have caused it - did all updates on software said it was fixed.

Four weeks later still having same problem - Faulty Spark plugs - had all four replaced

Three weeks later same problem - now found to be a deteriorated Fuel Injector!

Anyone else had same issue?

It happens - poor example of a component, or badly fitted (twisted/misaligned seal) during vehicle build.

Pity your dealers initial diagnosis fell short, but probably followed the trouble shooting guide/time allowance they'd been given under the warranty.

As percymon says any component can fail but it's poor that it took so long to diagnose.
Perhaps we could start identifying dealerships for good and not so good experiences?

Perhaps a case of technicians replacing mechanics - mechanics instinctively know where to look and probable causes when symptoms present themselves. Technicians seem to need fault codes. Don't get me wrong, car's are very complicated these days and codes are a welcome source but to suggest wet weather may be a cause of reduced performance says it all. Spark plugs and injectors are more reliable today, but are still prone to miss-handling.

The software did include an update for wet weather though which fixed it!

Mine had similar symptoms recently too - they said no faults logged but did check the spark plugs and said it was fine. I'll keep an eye on it in case it's going to go the same way as yours - mine's a MY23 B4 FWD.

A faulty spark-plug can be notoriously intermittent!!

Engine system reduced performance message shows frequent on XC40 B3 Plus (delivery August 2023). Volvo Aberdeen nothing can do about it. Waiting for solution from Volvo UK.

Thank you and presumably when the Engine System Reduced Performance comes up the car goes into limp mode like mine slowing right down often in fast traffic?

If Volvo do come up with a solution please can you let me know - thank you good to know I’m not the only one with the problem.
