Just out of curiousity how much are they charging for the spare wheel. I tried to add to my order on the day i ordered and they quoted me £275 so i declined as i was sure it should be £150. upon checking when i got home it was £150 so i rang dealer to add but he said it couldnt be added as must have been past that stage of build and would be a retro fit and that why so expensive. I would have payed £150 BUT £275 seems excessive to me.

I thought there was a time between order and build when you could change certain things? I know production slots have come right down but wanting to change on the day of order!!! Was it the dealer you asked?

i asked at the point of ordering the car and was deffinately quoted the £275 and thats why i left it. Forward a couple of weeks and i had told them i was considering cancelling the order due to the service pack being included in the price from September and that i was unhappy with how Volvo were messing customers about by making it look like we were being penalised for ordering early. I had considered going elsewhere and placing an order but the saving was less than £10 a month on the new offer figures but then the dealer came back to me after originally saying that i already had the best deal and offered to pay just over half the price of a 4 year service plan if i made up the rest. As i was planning in buying a service pack and the fact this kept my original order live and meant car would still come in the same time frame i accepted this offer. I did try to get them to put a spare wheel in for £150 but the buisiness manager wouldn't play ball as he said it cost them the retro fit price to do it and retro fitting was still the only option.

Dealer has emailed me to say that they are expecting the car early next week and after fitting the tow bar and spare wheel it should be ready for collection at the end of the week. Will have to delay though as we are away.

I know the car was already scheduled to be built but from order, production and delivery within a month is impressive.

I have spoken with Volvo today about making sure my car is registered with my private plate and they have talked me through it...to be honest its same as wheat i had to do with dealer..just send the V7 code i think it is...While i was on i asked if they had an update on delivery...she said still looking like 10 weeks originally quoted but my dealer last week said mid October so yet again no consistency...but het ho...no rush. I also asked about the recall for suspension struts....mainly are new builds coming with this update already done or do we need to sort after? she said she didn't know of a problem with the struts and so i said i knew of people who had this issue and had been told they were waiting for updates from Volvo...was hoping that Volvo themselves would be able to answer this question surely?

I'm not surprised they couldn't give you an answer on the struts!

My first Volvo, and I have found this constipated Volvo system tortuous. Bombarded with emails from a faceless Volvo UK and little control by the dealer. The purchase and pick up was first delayed by crossed wires between dealer and Volvo, and emails not reaching me until the last minute. Finally we drove the new car home, only to get a panicked phone call from the salesman saying that he was coming over to take the car back! It had not been registered, so was not taxed. We could have been stopped by the police. What had gone wrong? We are residents of Northern Ireland and bought the car in England during a long stay with my son. Volvo claimed that it was not possible to register a Great Britain plate to an address in Northern Ireland. I phoned DVLA who said they knew nothing about this. All cars are registered at DVLA Swansea. Volvo insisted they had to use a Northern Ireland plate. I can’t find anything online about this. Northern Ireland has many cars with GB plates. My son even leased a newcar in NI some years ago with an English address, and it was registered with NI plates. Our car now has NI plates, but we are still waiting for it to be registered. Seems to be a combination of Volvo’s impersonal system plus a strong belief by some that NI is not part of the UK. Stress not only for us, but for the salesman who can communicate with Volvo only by faceless emails. What a terrible communication system this is! Worst new car buying experience ever
