There’s a reason for all the excitement : we’re not talking about common under bonnet pads, but about under bonnet pads made of recycled Swedish fishing nets.

Anyone who knows how difficult it is to recycle Swedish fishing nets, understands that only very few can be blessed with such pads. The rest of us don’t even get the right badges if we complain too much.

A Volvo – even a Chinese one – has to be deserved, so it seems.

I guess they just ran out of old nets. I wonder if there’s a black market out there for nets. I’m going down to the beach to see what I can find.

What and where are the engine louvers?

The horizontal black flaps between the grill and the radiator. They can move from open (more air, more cooling, more drag, less fuel efficiency) to closed (the opposite):

Thanks Jamie307, I didn’t know this existed on my car. In cold weather, after starting the engine the louvers close and re-open after the engine is warmed up.

I can confirm the fact that they are made from Swedish fishing nets, I found a cods head squashed in my 2022 model B4's bonnet pad!
