The records for the inspection and the identification of the fault are with the dealer, I wasn't given any documentation. They just told me that the parts wouldn't be available until later in the year. The year previous I asked them to check the clicking from the front when it was in for a service and they said they couldn't find anything, it was only when I saw on the forum that others were having the same issue that I took it in specifically for that. The technician went out with me in the car and he told me that it wasn't an unknown fault.
When I spoke to the receptionist yesterday she said that in the past Volvo have agreed only 70% in some cases and in others 100%.

So due to Volvos tardiness some owners could be out of pocket!

Can't believe what i'm reading here....Volvo customer care has slipped so very badly these last 2 years or so that i'm convinced that going forward they are going to loose some of their loyal customers. We pay a premium for our cars knowing that Volvo of old always had great customer care....now that theory is being put to a massive test. I find it hard to comprehend that there aren't the parts available when there is this issue but then to take this stance warranty wise is ......well... i daren't print what i think but its not goodAndyfr wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 4:50 pm Just booked mine in for the work to be done. When it went in for the fault to be diagnosed in March the car was within warranty, now it's not. The dealer is trying to sort out this issue before I take it in. I would have thought that because the fault was identified within the warranty period but they didn't have the parts to do the job it should be covered, but the service department said that's not always the case, sometimes they will only allow a percentage towards the cost.
Anyone have an idea how much the cost is? Also if anyone has had the work done outside the warranty period what percentage did Volvo contribute?

An update... I was booked in to have the work done on Monday but as I hadn't had any confirmation whether Volvo would cover any of the cost I called the dealer. They couldn't tell me until they have it in the workshop, then they contact Volvo so see if they will cover any of the cost. I said that I wasn't going to take the car in until I know the situation so they have booked it in for the second week in December and they will let me know beforehand if Volvo will cover any of the cost.
The whole situations seems incredible to me, the car has only done 18,500 miles, the fault was identified whilst it was still in warranty and if the parts had been available they would have done it then. Due to Volvo taking so long to get the parts redesigned it's now out of warranty and I think they should cover the full cost of repair.

Surely its a no brainer otherwise we will all find that as a car nears end of warranty and we find a fault they will just say parts not available or even workshop is full and we have no availability to remedy your issues until car is out of warrantyAndyfr wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 9:23 pm An update...
