Did a round trip of over 400 miles over the weekend and achieved an average of 52 mpg according to the trip computer which I think is mighty impressive. Mainly motorway at speeds to match.

That sounds excellent! Were you wearing a slipper on your right foot?
The best I have yet managed in the couple of months I have had the car is 47mpg over about 80miles.
It's not too bad for such a vehicle.

No, driving normally at around 70mph most of the time with three people and luggage. Obviously accelerating uphill to overtake reduced the mpg. The coasting function and battery assistance has really made a difference over my previous car.

On my usual shorter journeys I can usually get into the low 40s quite easily and higher 40s on more of a run so probably not that different to yours.

My T4 MY20 returns 40 mpg in similar driving conditions. Besides better coasting for the mild-hydrid B4, I guess DC7 gearbox efficiency vs. TC8 could be responsible for the difference.

Whilst torque-converters were less efficient recent ones are much better so I don't think that much difference compared with the latest boxes. I think it's the coasting and the battery assistance that is making the biggest difference because with the latter, as we know, any acceleration hurts the fuel economy and so any help for the engine will give an improvement.

Like ChrisLF, I'm getting over 50 mpg on motorway runs and 42 mpg in everyday use. Impressed.
Cheers,
Ron

I've never exceeded 44mpg on a run. And I do a lot of long runs.
38-42 average is normal

True. But even driving like Miss Daisy mine wouldn't achieve much more. I've seen higher numbers if I do a Trip Reset whilst moving, but it soon settles back to its norm.
But I've never much bothered about MPG, other than a sign something is wrong with the engine.

I'm hoping that in the next year or so I'll be able to still buy something petrol with good performance. Not much at the moment on sale other than the BMW X1 M35i, but not keen on the body shape. It's a very sad state of affairs for Petroheads.

This may well have been reported before but I have only just discovered that the home screen on AAOS cars has sliding panels. Press the home button and then slide each panel to the left or the right for more options. I'm probably the only one who didn't know this...
