Hi All. I have 2019 XC40 diesel. I was checking fuses recently as had faulty windscreen water pump, now resolved. All fuses look ok on engine bay but still getting headlight fault which I think is short circuit. Maybe a relay but can't figure out. I've tried to clear fault codes but still reappear, see attached. Does anyone know what these fault codes relate to?

Could be a poor battery, 11.8 volts isn't great.

Yes, did you change your battery? I have a 2018 D4 AWD and I already have changed the battery on January 2021. I'm thinking of getting a new one within a year, after some 4-5 years.
I do have a heater, so maybe my car needs a more often battery replacement, but your 11.8V might be the issue here. Or some mice ate a piece of wire that goes to headlamps, which causes a shortcut here, draining the battery and dropping the voltage.

That’s a failed battery. Needs replacing.

Thanks Everyone. Car is starting ok with battery so would have thought it would struggle to start on colder mornings. Will see if I can get it tested as have seen start/stop batteries fail before.

The electronics are not fed by the same battery that starts the car. Yours will have the normal battery for starting, and a small 12v battery for the electronics. It's likely this that's failing.

Felindre makes a good point. Failed support battery is a known issue for MY18-20, you find on the forum multiple reports related to this problem. Support battery failed in my MY20 and Volvo replaced it with a new, improved unit free of charge.
