At Waylands Volvo in Oxford, which is where I bought the car 6 months ago, it was ex Volvo fleet. All went smoothly, although they do try and gently push extras. The recommendations I received for extra work was for 3 tyres at £250 a pop (2.9mm, 3.2mm and 4.1mm, the 2.9 being marked urgent). Then wiper blades at a considerably expensive £95, and a 4 wheel alignment at £90. I declined all but the alignment.
They were, unsurprisingly having read about it here and elsewhere, unable to find any stored codes relating to a persistent cold engine misfire, and of course as the car had been driven an hour plus to get there it was good and warm. I might take them up on leaving it with them for a couple of days another time so they can try it properly cold.
More surprising was that they didn’t update the software to the latest, which I thought was standard. Oh, and they’d unplugged the power lead to my Blackvue dashcam and left it out, something I only notice half way home after a rapid stop caused by the milk tanker in front of me slamming on the anchors and locking his rear axle! That made it a bit smelly. Which reminds me, there was absolutely no workshop odour in the car, and no silly paper mats or steering wheel clingfilm to dispose of.
We’d had a courtesy car so we drove to the Park & Ride and had a mooch about Oxford - it’s very noticeable how much the new Westgate centre has decimated trade in the town. Then we went back and waited in the dealership, a pleasant enough place. We were there about a hour and precisely no one came to look at cars. It was a Monday lunchtime tho.
ETA despite a mileage of nearly 15000 the brakes, front and rear, were only noted as being 10% worn.

£250 each for tyres

Idiots.
And new wipers blades in a car only a year old.
Pure profiteering
(Think I’d give them the bird and go elsewhere)

Agree with Chris John, I've just replaced a tyre as a result of a puncture, others all OK at 4 yrs and 11500 mls. And just had to replace front wiper blades on MOT.
Volvo XC40 T4 MY20 FWD Inscription Pro, Onyx Black, Blond interior, Winter Pack, Tempra Spare, Privacy Glass, Mudflaps, Dashcam and Reversing Camera. AutoGlym LifeShine, Boot Mat , Interior Rubber Fitted Mats/Interior Fitted Carpet Mats.
Time to look for another dealer, you'll never trust them when something really does need replacing.
They were fine, no attempt at a hard sell when I declined all but the wheel alignment. I suspect the tyre thing is automated depending on th3 tread depth they record. A I guess it speaks to a non-technical well heeled demographic customer base.
The EcoContacts, which is what they woul£ have fitted, are around the £150 mark retail, so fitted about £180.

Which makes the main dealer quote quite reasonable , since they probably charge 30min labour time at £170/hour
You can't blame them, plenty of people just pay it - it pays for the fancy showroom, plants and the coffee machine
