B5 fuel consumption
Doubt you can remove the speed limiter that's set at max 112mph - but why would you wish too - surely 112mph is fast enough for anyone - after all that speed is a licence looser, and if you could, and you did, then expect your insurance to be rightly void.
I guess there's an argument to be made that in Germany on an unrestricted autobahn then it's not illegal. However Volvo has declared this is a standard safety feature on all their cars so you have accepted that by purchasing the vehicle.

Surely it's more sensible to set the limit at 70mph for the UK market? Or given that the optimum speed for ICE vehicles is 55mph perhaps that will make more sense to world Governments. BEVs will perform better at 55mph too and certainly fewer deaths.
Yes, it can be removed. Found a German company online that offers the service.

Ok my view, guess many would disagree - thousands die every year just on UK roads alone through speeding - watch Panorama tonight and see - 80mph should be fast enough for anyone and anywhere, even in Germany - hate speeding - wrecks so many lives and families.
I guess it would be a bit tough fessing up to the insurance company about removing a safety feature that the OEM installed. How stable would the car be above 112mph especially when it has been designed to be limited?
