Yes, some argue that reversiing lights are only to let others know that you are reversing. Whilst the legislation may say that (I haven't checked) commonsense and experience would say otherwise as it's important to be able to see going backwards as well as going forwards. When going forwards we now have cornering foglight so they think that aids safety and yet when reversing it's woeful. The front fog lights have to be designed as not to blind oncoming traffic so reversing lights could be designed the same.
The ideal solution would (as years ago!) be to have additional brighter reversing lights that would be used onlynwhen appropriate, like fog lights are. But the authorities and manufacturers wouldn't like drivers making their own decisions and judgements as we are increasingly seeing.
As said, it wouldn't be as bad if the lights were as bright as other cars and they have to meet the legislation.
As I've said before, do some of these "designers" actually drive!

I'm up in deepest Northumberland and Google Maps has given a verbal Speed Camera warning with Speed Limit at every camera. I'm impressed!
Also, has anyone noticed that if you click into a specific journey in the Apps Driving Journal it gives you the Duration, Distance, Fuel Used and MPG for that specific journey.

I’ve had the driving journal data and the speed camera data for months. Nothing new here.
