Got my new Xc40 this month but cannot find how Speed Limiter works. (Either automatic or Manual)
I am sure it stated this was part of the Plus specification.
I previous had a 2021 V90 and it was very simple to use.
Appreciate any guidance

It seems that the only is the automatic one linked to speed limit signs.
That is a fail for me as locally there are lots of advisory 20mph (not red boundary) or mandatory when lights flashing for school times.
I wanted a manual limiter but does not exist anymore

Unfortunately those decisions are increasingly being taken away from us. Personally I won't go anywhere near the automatic speed limiter that relies on signs as it's such an unreliable system.
On a different note, but equally unreliable and flawed, is the collision avoidance system. Had a couple of daft activations recently but yesterday when I found myself in an actual dangerous situation, not a murmur. I was doing 60mph and a car pulled out of a side road without stopping at the junction. Fortunately my reaction and heavy braking saved the day. I'm guessing at some point the car would have assessed the situation but by then would have to have braked really hard. I'll stick to my own assessment and decision making thanks!

I really don't understand why the Volvo speed detection is so poor, I'm regularly a passenger in a Vauxhall and a BMW on the same routes I do in the Volvo and they are 100% accurate whereas the Volvo is 80% ish. I live on a single track national speed limit road and now the Volvo says it's 30mph, it makes no sense at all! It was correct. I'm tempted to stick a black label over that part of the screen it would be correct then all of the time.

I agree...the traffic sign recognition is p*ss poor

In the main I find the traffic sign recognition to be pretty good. I have recently submitted a number of corrections to our local roads that were accepted by Google and corrections were made after a few days. Those roads now display correctly. Incidentally, at the time, those recognition errors were the same on my mobile phone, using Google Maps compared to the sign recognition in my car. When there are errors though, it negates using Volvo's Active Pedal Response rather than the audible warning. I tried APR after I first got the car. I really didn't like that. It's fine in principle but when the sign is recognised incorrectly its bordering on dangerous.
Thanks

Biggest issue with non recognition in Wales, signs show start of zone, and have END below for end of zone. Simples. However in Wales we have DiWEDD immediately below the sign with END below this, so the system never recognised the end of zones.

Yes, as I keep saying, these systems wouldn't be too bad if signage was 100% accurate, including in provision and in clear sight but doubt it will ever be and so I'm surprised manufacturers are allowed to install systems that rely on them like the speed limiter which could be dangerous, particularly when picking up signs from adjacent roads. I'm Ok with just a visual warning because if it's wrong I can ignore it. Not happy with ones that can control the car though and won't use them.

My TomTom is close to 100% accurate though and it doesn't use any camera just first rate map data. The problem with Google maps is that it is all done via AI from street view and people reporting faults, both being unreliable.
