CarPlay Not Connecting

Hi,

Is anyone else having trouble with Apple CarPlay? I purchased a 2023 XC40 in January and no issues for around the first 3 to 4 months. It then wouldn't connect to CarPlay but was fine after rebooting the infotainment system. Sometimes it's taking 3 to 4 reboots of both the system and the phone, even then there's time it won't connect.

I'm using an (up to date) Apple iPhone 14 Pro, a new genuine Apple cable, it always charges the phone but just says 'connect phone' most the time. Sometimes it says the phone is connected until you open up CarPlay, then it disconnects.

I expected the odd glitch in my old car (2016) with no software updates in the last 5 years but aside from the off map crash, nothing. Possibly something that will be sorted in the next update, but just wondered how common it is.

What version of AAOS is running in your car? Apple CarPlay glitches were reported last year and supposedly fixed with later AAOS updates.

Before connecting your iPhone go to Settings, General, CarPlay, Volvo Car, Forget This Car, Forget. Then connect the iPhone via cable to the car with its engine on and follow the instructions to reconnect CarPlay. Make sure Allow CarPlay While Locked is turned On in iPhone Settings, General, CarPlay, Volvo Car. You can also customize here the layout of your apps in CarPlay, the order in which they appear on the centre display.

I'm on 3.0.3 and expect I'll be getting the 3.1.9 update soon. I've forgotten the car and hopefully it will work ok next time I try.

ACP working OK in my 2023 C40, 3.0.3 software hooked up to Apple iPhone 14 Pro via a variety of Aliexpress cables.

I find that I have to replace my cable fairly frequently as it gets to the point where even the slightest movement of the phone disconnects CarPlay. Also it is occasionally necessary to reboot the car infotainment system to establish a connection.

Also try cleaning the lightning port on the iPhone - they’re prone to getting so much dust there that the cable does not connect reliably.

And just to add the current cable has been in operation for 9 months without issue
