I purchased my XC40 new in June 2024 and had the dash cam fitted (both). V. expensive, but I wanted to be sure that it was down to dealers to ensure the all was fine.
Had a problem with the App initially but this ws down to my phone having a VPN and so it could not join the dash cam network. Dealers were unaware of the reason for the problem and it took me a while to sue it out.
Just purchased a micro SD to extend recording/keep images and am having a struggle to fit it into the dash cam. Does anyone have experience/advice please?
XC40 Dash cam advice
Assuming it is the Volvo Peksunny DVR IV. If you carefully peal back the rubber cover on the side you can see two slots. There is a little image beneath the SD slot that shows which way round it goes (see image).
It needs to click in place from memory so if you have nails you can gently click it in. You will need to format the card via the phone app.
Hope this helps.

Hi James,
I had this dashcam installed too approx two months ago by my Volvo dealership, not cheap by any means but I think it looks fairly smart being hardwired in and love the "take photo" command.
There's a couple of settings I'm not au fait with and wondered what your experience of it was:
Parking mode: do you have this enabled? Do you think it'll bleed the car battery?
Have you found a way for your phone to auto connect to the dashcam's wifi? I can't seem to do this which is annoying and have to manually connect (Android phone!)
Thanks for your reply.JAMESCLAN wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2024 2:57 pm Assuming it is the Volvo Peksunny DVR IV. If you carefully peal back the rubber cover on the side you can see two slots. There is a little image beneath the SD slot that shows which way round it goes (see image).

Yes, mine is that model and I did find the slot.
It may be that I have not pushed the micro SD in with sufficient force - I tried using a metal object as fingers too fat for this job in limited space>

I assumed that the parking mode wouldn't use much power - it was fine when I went away for two weeks and the car stood idle.thefaxmachine27 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 10:26 amJAMESCLAN wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2024 2:57 pm Assuming it is the Volvo Peksunny DVR IV. The good thing is that it should pick up anyone who nudges the car while parked.

Has anyone perfected the hardwiring of a dashcam ,giving parking observation without the dreaded battery drain ? just wiring mine in but would like the full coverage!
Parking mode is fine as long as the perpetrator has the decency to bump your car from the front within the FOV of the camera, otherwise it’s a waste of time IMHO…

I have today installed a Redtiger F7NP dual front and rear camera! fine bit of kit with outstanding picture quality, fantastic back up from them, installed with only two 4" pieces of wire showing , well pleased!!! £118 on limited time Amazon deal !
Just had the same Volvo dashcam installed. Is there any way of getting a video recording from the rear view camera other than shouting "Take photo" and getting 30 seconds maximum video length on download? When I access the video on the front camera via the APP on my iphone, only the front view seems to be available. Instructions say that you can flip from front view to rear view "only in real time" which isn't much use. When the car is stationary and I am looking at the live feed, I can flip front and rear, but not on the recorded video. No "flip" options are available on the recorded video. The instructions (translated from Chinese) seem to confuse "Real time" and "live view".
Any advice welcome.
Also seems impossible to reach the SD slot without pulling the camera off the windscreen, since it is too close to the central consoled (where they have mounted my dashcam)
