On leaving home this morning our road was completely underwater. Stopped the car re-read the manual confirmed 450mm wading depth, which is actually quite deep when you estimate against the car and decided from my “local knowledge” it would be fine, which it was, phew!! However, I had a brown trouser moment when halfway through all the parking sensors went off!! I’ll have to get a tape measure out to check but I’m guessing they’re below the 450mm wading depth.
My previous cars would never have made it through, it was a “I love my XC40 moment”…
Wading Depth and Brown Trousers…
On the way back I was a bit more observant and it was only the fronts that actually went off. Just been out with a tape measure...
So the fronts are quite low and with a bow wave would easily be covered.
One of the neighbours has since been out and measured it at 350mm before they ventured out, so well within the allowed depth.

The sensors will be reading out at an angle so will pick up the water if within the distance that they will pick up other objects I guess?
