Maybe I can forgive the dated exterior design, its a shoe-box classic shape that may always please. Its the interior dash that I find hard to forgive, to me it looks so dated now.

BMW X1. Classic (and timeless) design, with a fabulous modern interior.

Nice, but cost a fortune to get same spec as XC40 Ultimate. Package for this, package for that , I believe they do include the steering wheel though.

Still much better than some of these new "designs" that are dominated by a large rectangular screen. And especially those like the EX30 that don't have a driver display as such at all. No thanks.

As you know we disagree about the exterior styling, I don't think it does look dated though I think the rear looks a bit bland now since removing the exhaust trims and so an updated bumper design wouldn't go amiss.

Poor standard tyres with no grip ( eco contract 6 ).
Poor 360 cameras ( my Tiguan and 3 series were significantly better ).
Poor infotainment support for media.
The digital dash is very limited in what it shows ( maps or no maps ).
Blind spots at the rear.
Laggy acceleration.
Lane keep assist interferes too much even when switched off.

This is a MY23 B4 mild hybrid front wheel drive.

Next car who knows - test drove the Sportage which seemed better but not fully convinced.
Fortunately mine came with the Michelin Primacy tyres like the first one had which I was pleased with. The 360 deg camera was a bonus and hadn't had before so happy enough with that especially as can select front or rear camera as well.

Surprised that you say the acceleration is laggy. Ok, I came from an 8 speed TC but find the new one relatively nippy and more smooth and quiet. Perhaps the 2024 MY is better?

For me in the price range there is nothing else that appeals at all at the moment. Even more expensive ones don't, though I haven't looked at the likes of the BMW X1 in detail.

As I've said elsewhere, overall I'm very happy with my new one (It could have been even better though) and will keep me going for a few more years. I will see what new models come out though and maybe in a couple of years if something really grabs me I might change.

Trouble is, understandably, most new models are increasingly EV and I've gone a bit lukewarm on those at the moment.

Mine came with Pirelli PZ4s and they're pretty decent in warmer conditions.
360Β° Camera is fine for me and certainly not laggy acceleration, maybe there is a problem with yours?
I dislike most driver aids, bar ABS and a little traction control, so only use those which I'm forced to endure
