Think I upset something. Car went all red warning on me on the motorway with 12v charging error. Limped it home and guess I get to press the Volvo come get me button tomorrow. Also flashed up propulsion system service when I got how for good measure

There are other mentions on here of the mild hybrid issue with charging the 12v side. Seem to be recently built models.

Okay contacted Volvo, nice gentleman came out. Did a software update, should be good to go.
Seems the issue is the car thinks it isn’t charging fro a split second and then holds the error for a while.
As to the Volvo service to fix it very pleased with that. Raise a ticket, map progress to how close they are , person with a van turns up and fixes it.
Nice.

The software update I got was not a recall level but if you have the problem you get the fix. Fix was released 3 weeks ago. Seems sometimes the modules need a tweak to talk nicely with each other.
Seems for some errors even if it’s only an issue for a moment the car wants to do a few full turn off turn on cycles to say it’s really gone.
Mine showed the error in the morning too but one more turn off and on and it went.

My car has just exhibited the critical 12V charging failure issue. I pulled in and turned it off and on again, and it started again, but in tortoise mode, so I limped home at 5mph. This is a 73 plate MY24 B3 with under 8000 miles on the clock (latest software installed) - has anyone else experienced this recently? I tried the car a couple of hours later on the drive, and it seems fine again - can the car be trusted for a longer trip on Christmas day if this was a temporary glitch, or would I be wise to get the garage to pick it up once things return to normal?
Update: I drove the car for 15 minutes first thing, and it seemed fine, so I went on the longer journey and there seemed to be no problem… I noticed the car went offline overnight and did a full boot up this morning. I suspect a failing 12V battery (or just a random glitch) - will contact Volvo once things get back to normal and report back.
FWIW I find that performing a full infotainment reset and a modem reset a few hours after a OTA software update seems to cure the odd glitch that appears after the update.
In fact I do the resets monthly whether the car needs it or not !
I have no idea if that would help in your case I’m afraid.

Silver B3 Model Year 2024
Yesterday morning my MY24 B3 XC40's 12V battery was completely flat - I noticed it had gone off line the previous night, and the alarm LED was no longer flashing. The previous weekend I was getting lots of "Battery save mode" messages when just getting into and leaving the car, so something has been up for a while, following the Christmas Eve critical charging failure message - last week the local dealership tested the battery and updated some software, but obviously this has not helped. The Volvo rescue guy used a booster to get the car going, and his portable meter initially told him the 12V battery was in a really poor state of health, but after idling for half an hour, the battery was reporting being half charged and the internal system was not reporting any issues. So he refused to replace the battery, and I'm now stuck with not knowing whether there's a mystery drain or if the battery is indeed duff. And as an added bonus, the TCAM battery is also apparently dead now. If anyone has experienced this before, and has any helpful suggestions, I'd love to know.

If it was me I would take the car back to the dealer for a thorough investigation as to why your car ended up with a totally flat 12V battery just after they had checked it.
As for the TCAM battery, I think it will run flat if the 12V battery is faulty, but should charge up again (slowly) when you are driving. How do you know it is dead?
