I had it happen the other day, it being the third time it has happened. I had the OK message come up but before I had time to press the right steering wheel button it sorted itself out.

Since then I've updated to 2.12 so hopefully it's rectified now.

I have noticed that with the AAOS that you don't get the irregular indicator clicking that Sensus cars had.

I have had it twice from new in July. Both times it was near side front. Just flashing quickly. I cancelled the indicator and tried again. All ok.👍

For me the software is the most disappointing part of the Volvo package. I have had more glitches, lockups and inconsistencies with the XC40 than any other car. So far this week I have had the drivers display map lockup which needed the console to be reset. The ongoing radio on/off/channel randomness at startup. A new one was the inability to navigate anywhere, gave the instructions both by voice and touch screen and then it did nothing, pulling over and stop/start cleared that one. Haven't seen the left indicator issue though....

AAOS is relatively new and needs time to reach the stability of a mature operating system. As long as Volvo keeps pushing OTA updates every 2 month glitches and bugs will become less and less annoying.

This is a specific AAOS bug and could be fixed by Volvo with OTA update. Is your car running on the latest software version 2.12 ?
I have been out to check on my car and it’s running 2.12

I hoped that as part of the PDI everything would have been brought up to the latest version.

AAOS v.2.12 was made available for OTA download only couple of days ago.

Apologies for the “newbie question”… if my car has auto updated should it have notified me?

Auto updates are enabled :)

Yes, you should be notified when OTA update is available for download.

Volvo launched AAOS back in Mar 2021 so I think 2 1/2 years should be more than enough time to sort out these obvious issues? I suspect that the focus of software effort is now on the EV range...time will tell. Disappointing that release 2.12 has zero information too but I continue to feedback every single issue I find to Volvo so at least they are aware.

Mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric Volvos share the same AAOS platform, difference being engine / motor / battery management part of the software. Unfortunately 2 1/2 years is still early stage in automotive software development, it took Tesla 8 years to perfect and fine tune its EV only software.
