I was told although the parts will be available from the end of October that Asia will be first to get them with the UK availability around February. Someone somewhere isn’t being truthful.

MyXC40 Recharge Twin is booked in 22nd Nov for top mount bearing change. We’ll see if it makes the suspension a little quieter on uneven British roads!

Thanks Croft. I might just ring the dealer and ask if there is an update. I hope it’s a successful repair for you.

I am booked in for the 7th November at my dealership, although I have progressed a complaint through CustomerServices VCFSUK and the financial ombudsman.
CustomerServices VCFSUK are in contact with my dealership to make sure it gets resolved, and the ombudsman's initial ruling was in my favour, but that it being challenged.

I am told they will only do one side, even though it's my opinion both should be done if the part has undergone a redesign.

Finally! I had my XC40 Inscription Pro T5 Recharge’s top mount bearings replaced today (as per the Volvo technical report). I first complained about the noise from the top mounts during my cars first inspection service in 2021. It’s taken 3 years to get the mounts repaired. There is still a slight noise when steering from lock to lock, but it’s much quieter than it was. The dealer told me that Volvo had covered the cost. That was nice of them.

Wow. Treoesman, that’s some journey to get here - glad sorted though! My XC40 Recharge Twin will be in for the ‘mod’ later this month. For you, was it just the steering noise? For me it’s just the ‘rattle’ from the suspension when the road surface is anything but smooth. I’m not sure if the new bearings are just for the Recharge/EX40 - I assume so, due to the extra weight of the batteries. We’ll see how it goes but my concern is it might make little or no difference (or I think I’ve read elsewhere that people might have had other revised bearings in the past and any improvements are gone after a period of driving) and just a compromise you sadly have to live with in having a heavy EV (unless you have a car with air suspension I guess!). My fingers and toes are crossed….! I never had this with my Tesla M3 company car but then it was half a tonne lighter!

Just booked mine in for the work to be done. When it went in for the fault to be diagnosed in March the car was within warranty, now it's not. The dealer is trying to sort out this issue before I take it in. I would have thought that because the fault was identified within the warranty period but they didn't have the parts to do the job it should be covered, but the service department said that's not always the case, sometimes they will only allow a percentage towards the cost.

Anyone have an idea how much the cost is? Also if anyone has had the work done outside the warranty period what percentage did Volvo contribute?

What! I hope that isn't the case as it's unbelievable!

Providing you have documentation identifying the fault and work required, within the warranty period, that don’t have ‘ a leg to stand on’. If you don’t, you might have a battle on you hands, but use the experience of others on this forum, to help get the best outcome you can.
