Sensus navigation certainly has itโ€™s faults. Today I was directed along an A-class road which has been closed for a month. The map display clearly shows this closure but no alternative route was suggested.

Yes Sensus nav is simply awful. I've used most sat nav formats over the years and sensus has to be the worst.

I've had 6 new cars since 2011with in built-in satnav (Ford, Renault,Skoda, Toyota and 2 XC40'S) and they're all crap.

I have the same experience as you, Goldy.
Ford, VW, Honda - all pretty poor, all based on Garmin or TomTom, which are now going the way of Nokia.
At least new Volvos are getting Google Maps integrated into them, and not before time. Strange how long it's taking for some carmakers make the mental leap into this decade, after years of deluding themselves that their clunky old in-house systems can somehow compete with the offerings of modern tech companies.

Can you get the Google maps retrofitted? My XC40 B4 is an MY22, surely it's only software.

PlymDave, it is indeed just software but unfortunately it's software that operated on top of Android Automotive which our cars don't and can't have.

On Sensus, Google Maps can always be loaded via "smartphone integration" ie Android Auto, and I assume, CarPlay. I think someone said the other day dealers have an offer on at ยฃ240 IIRC.

I always use Google maps on CarPlay as traffic updates quickly with alternative routes that donโ€™t go around the doors. Shame it only takes up half the screen but still better than any built in satnav I have had.
