 If a Ford or a Skoda did 500-mpg most would have one - especially a Skoda, they are always an all round top rated car :D

Previous 3 new cars were Yetis and a Karoq. Excellent cars, but I fancied a change.

Dissing the brand like that displays an ignorance rooted in a 70's mindset.

Fully agree, my next car will be another Skoda. Volvo have been shooting themselves in the foot recently…

My view as well. I only left VWG after owning many Audis (well still have one!) VWs, and a Skoda Yeti because they had issues with the 1.5 petrol and when looking at the 2.0 couldn't get the spec. I wanted in a Skoda or VW.

Bought the XC40 in 2019, was able to get exactly what I wanted at a reasonable price, and am very happy with the car. So much so will be paying off the balance and keeping it, certainly until I see how electric pans out. If I was looking now not sure if I would buy an XC40 due to changes and limits on spec. and the cost even though I can afford it.

For future cars will certainly be considering VWG offerings again.

@Mikeg1, I am neither ignorant nor stuck in the 70's. I simply do not appreciate what the Skoda Brand has to offer. I'm perfectly happy for you to enjoy them but I don't.

Did a 30 mile journey ,22 miles on a motorway lots of traffic but no queues driving around 60mph and 8 miles of A/B roads no real traffic just a few stops for lights.

Checked the consumption on the app and it came in at 46.2 mpg for the journey, this is more than I expected, 22my B4, 8 speed auto 2700 miles on the clock.
Wow, Den.
That’s much better than my MY20 B4, 7spd auto on similar journeys.
Using Eco Mode and driving economically, I’m struggling to get over 40mpg. In fact, since moving to E10 petrol, I haven’t hit it.
Interestingly, well to me anyway ;) , I’ve done the calcs using data from the app and find that the difference for my car using E10 vs E5 is that E10 is 12% less efficient and not the 2% that the government are stating.

Clearly, the 8spd is the better drivetrain.

That said, I’m still loving it after just over a year.
Enjoy, buddy. 😉

Hi
@bionicrusty I couldn’t believe it either, but I think it will be a one off, it was a 22mile motorway driving in traffic around 60 mph with no heavy braking , acceleration or stopping for queuing traffic ,and an 8 miles of a/b roads with light traffic, almost a perfect 30 miles. Still low 20’s on short runs though.

last year up to York in a B4 reached 59-mpg and averaged 48.7-mpg, so with a light foot and steady driving they can do well for a 2.0.
