T5 recharge tyre wear
We are on our 7th Volvo all were T5. Our 2 year old XC40 T5 recharge front tyres at 20,000 miles now need replaced. First time we have worn tyres so quick I was wondering if recharging the battery while driving effects tyre wear, we would recharge regularly. Has anyone else has the same experience? Five stars for the T5 black ultimate it's a super car.
Recharging the battery while driving has no effect on tire wear. Over the past years, manufacturers have increasingly equipped their cars with tires designed to lower emissions. However, these Original Equipment (OE) tires often have reduced tread depth and tend to wear out more quickly compared to non-OE alternatives. It could be one explanation for the difference you’re noticing compared to your previous Volvos. Watch the first 3 minutes in the video below:

My Dec 2020 T5 has just done 10,000 mile on it,s original Continentals ! they have to be replaced next week !!! we have not driven this car hard whatsoever! no roundabouts in daily use ! Michelin Primacy going on next . In all my driving years I have never experienced anything like it ! even my hard driven Golf R did 16,000 .
I’ve had a few Volvo T5s myself, and while I haven’t noticed the recharging affecting tire wear directly, I’ve found that how you drive can play a role. If you're using sportier modes or accelerating more often, that could definitely wear out the tires quicker. I’ve also started paying closer attention to tire pressure, as that can make a surprising difference too. The XC40 T5 is an awesome car, so it’s probably just about managing those little things to keep everything running smoothly.
