Knocking sound when steering the wheel to the right side

I recently purchased a 2020 xc40 r design, a Volvo Selekt, after a few days this developed the creaking/clunking noise when turning the steering wheel at slow speed, car has been back into the dealer and they have advised that it's the top suspension mounts, Volvo are aware and are re designing these mounts.
Has anyone heard of this, I was given no indication if timescales, should I live with this until they call me, or insist they replace them with "temporary" replacements.

Important thing is that the dealer knows of the issue on your car and it will be done under their warranty. Ask them if there is any safety implications.

So what about the new cars coming through delivery now? anyone any idea if the updated parts are already fitted to the new cars or is it something that we are going to have to report and put pressure on our dealers to do as we already know theres a problem because of these forums we are on?

Yes, that's what I've been wondering. One would hope that they started fitting the updated parts to new builds as soon as they became available.

The reply I received direct from Volvo today is below , still no timescales given.

I have heard from our Technical Team that the information provided by the retailer is correct. A new design is currently in the process, once these parts are available you will be updated.

We currently do not have much information in terms of timelines, I'm afraid. You will be kept up to date on any progress.

Do we Know if this problem exists on All XC40s or if it's just the early ones or specific models?

This does not appear to be all XC40's. I can see their is not a current recall regarding this but if a recall is issued, you will be contacted.

My 2020 T4 R Design at the moment appears ok. Put on full lock, drove slowly and not a sound. Not sure how this can be, if in fact it is an inherent fault.

Just a point, i didn't really hear a "knock" it's more a feeling coming through the steering wheel. Its like the feeling when uj couplings are wearing and you can feel it.

Local Volvo agents reported a "creaking from OSF top mount" and say will require replacing, however, they are waiting for new modified version of top mount to be released. This sounds as if it is an ongoing problem/wait judging from other comments here!
