Re: T5 Recharge charging time
Yes, you can choose to save the battery, JimElliot. On the point of hybrid mode once the battery range is depleted, I find the mpg exceptional - did 600 miles around Wales last week, mostly slow mountain / hill roads, and no day returned worse than 44mpg, some up to 48mpg. Dual carriage way/ motorwa...

Re: T5 Recharge charging time
JimElliot, Inevitably there is an increase but I have no idea how much. When I got the car I was able to measure how much electricity the car was using but I stopped when energy prices shot up. I felt it best to stay ignorant!

Re: 1.5 petrol hybrid engine longevity
15 miles is rather pessimistic, eugene61. In present winter conditions we get about 20. In good weather I've managed 32, but I was trying.. JimElliot if you can charge at home, then take advantage of preconditioning. the car in winter weather. Already toasty and defrosted when you get in it.

Re: T5 Recharge charging time
Agreed. We've been charging ours daily (sometimes twice daily) for two and a half years off a 13A socket. There's a temperature sensor in the cable which will shut off the charge if it detects overheating at the plug/socket. Important to ensure the socket is in good condition - cheap as chips to rep...

Re: Interesting emission result
My 30 year old Mazda MX-5 also tests at 0.00% CO every year, so I don't think it means too much!
They still charge me silly money to tax it though.

Re: Climate while in Hybrid / Electric
Agreed, the HVAC uses less power in Pure mode - one effect of that is the windscreen has a propensity to mist up sometimes, but the heating works fine for me. If he has no climate control without burning petrol, there's something wrong with Alanetbernie's car.

Re: Climate while in Hybrid / Electric
Really? We've had our car over two years now. Heating works as any other car (except it's faster) in any mode. Never had to enable anything in menus.

Re: lubricant level warning
It shouldn't inject extra fuel each time it starts, only when the Diesel Particulate Filter needs clearing. Short journeys means the DPF will need regenerating more frequently and the lubricating oil takes on unburned diesel each time. Longer journeys will obviously help. Given your use, If it was m...

Re: New owner, couple of questions
I have no answer to that. I plug the car in when I get home and leave the car to it! I reasoned that a hybrid doesn't use enough electricity to benefit from the energy companies cheap rate deals, so just charge when I can.
