Re: Can a google-hater live with an XC40?
Quite interesting, and depressing, that Big Tech have brain-washed many of you into thinking that a nay-sayer is a bit bonkers, and needs to be 'othered' and ridiculed. I don't want Google on my car because it doesn't provide anything *I* need. I do my best to block ads, tracking and malware. But I ...

Thanks for the comments. As a seperate issue, "Is your new car spying on you", has appeared as a news topic, e.g. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-29566764

Can a google-hater live with an XC40?
Having shed my beloved petrol-driven XC40, I am missing it, and thinking about a pure EV. But I'm distressed to hear that Volvo have jumped totally in to bed with google. This household doesn't have any truck with them, so I'm wondering if it's possible to run a new XC40 and be mostly, or completely...

Re: Delete phone - how and is it necessary
I decided to leave the SIM card in the boot. It was only a cheap '3' 12-month pre-pay. Seemed mean to remove it!

Re: Delete phone - how and is it necessary
All good advice, thanks.
Just re-visited WeBuyAnyCar and they were kind enough to give me access to the car, so have done a Sensus Full Facory Reset, which has deleted my phone and also, all my saved SatNav destinations (had forgotten about that - more sensitive personal info).
Job done.

Delete phone - how and is it necessary
Have sold the car to a dealer today but couldn't work out how to delete my Phone. Can now see it looks like Settings/Communications/Bluetooth/Devices/Remove Device Unclear if I'll be granted access to perform that operation. Would you have privacy concerns if you weren't able to do that? Can a new o...

Replacing P-SIM after expiry with '3' 24-month SIM
This has been covered many times before, but I'll add this anyway to confirm the current position for any new users. My MY2020 car was supplied with a Vodafone personal SIM (P-SIM). I inserted that into the SIM-holder under the boot floor and carefully followed the complex instructions to activate i...

Re: New map update out
Well spotted, thanks. Had forgotten it was Here Maps in Sensus Navigation.
Also just noticed that all new models are Google Maps. But Volvo have always supported old navigation systems, so no worries there.

Re: New map update out
There was some long-term temporary roadworks on a dual carriageway near me with a 50 limit for about two years. My car still flashes up with a 50 limit sign on the dash despite all the signs and speed limit being removed a year ago and it just being a 70 all the way through with no signs at all. An...

Re: New map update out
@M@rk I was doing the process correctly. Well if you only drive 5-20 minutes a month why bother with map updates :D Good question! Anyway, got into the car this morning and the centre display immediately said NW Europe map update has been installed. Still no idea why the process took [20 minutes; br...
